The Seneca Pro Solo takes place in the heart of the Finger Lakes Region of New York State. Unfortunately, we are not allowed to camp at the site. You may store trailers and cars in the pit area at your own risk Friday and Saturday. Everything must be gone Sunday evening. We are working on a Chicken Barbeque to welcome everyone on Friday night. We will have food vendors on-site on Saturday and Sunday. Many of the Finger Lakes Region members camp in Sampson State Park (across the street). There are many other parks and private campgrounds in the area. The site is located in Romulus, NY, between Seneca Falls, Waterloo, Ithaca, and Watkins Glen. All of these have shopping, chain hotels, bed and breakfast accommodations, and places to eat. Further away are the cities of Rochester, Syracuse, Elmira/Corning and Binghamton. Seneca Falls is rumored to be the inspiration for the fictional town of Bedford Falls in the Frank Capra movie "It's a wonderful life". It is home to the Women's Rights National Historical Park. Geneva is home to Hobart and William Smith colleges and a beautiful lakefront on the north end of Seneca Lake. Waterloo is home to a large Premium Outlets Mall and the birthplace of Memorial Day. The Holiday Inn here is probably the closest to the site. Ithaca is home to Cornell University, Ithaca College, and has a large artistic population with many studios and galleries. Buttermilk falls State Park offers hiking trails and waterfalls. Watkins Glen is home to the famed Watkins Glen International racetrack, Watkins Glen State Park with camping and hiking trails, and dinner cruises on Seneca Lake. The Glen region of SCCA will be holding races at Watkins Glen International this weekend, simply show your membership card at registration to visit and watch the action. Stop at the tourist information bureau for a map to drive the original Grand Prix course. |
